PP WOVEN BAGS

FLEXIBLE INTERMEDIATE BULK CONTAINER (FIBC):

FIBC is a Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container: Bulk bag, Big bag, Jumbo bag, Tote bags or Super sack, is an industrial container made of flexible fabric in large dimensions for storing, transporting and handling dry, granular products or slurry material.  FIBC’s are the most effective cost and ideal types of packaging for shipping and storing dry bulk products. They can be produced from either tubular or flat Polypropylene fabric. These types of fabric can be either coated or uncoated and vary in weights depending on the requirements of the Safe Working Load (SWL) or Safety Factor (SF).

Transporting and loading is done on either pallets or by lifting it from the loops. Bags are made with either one, two or four lifting loops. The single loop bag is suitable for one man operation as there is no need for a second man to put the loops on the loader hook. Emptying is made easy by a special opening in the bottom such as a discharge spout, of which there are several options, or by simply cutting it open.

The popularity and use of bulk bags will continue to grow as handling becomes increasingly easier and cost savings are even more readily identifiable over other types of packaging.

Advantages:

  • Ease of handling;
  • Space saving when compared to rigid boxes or totes;
  • Hygienic considerations at discharge;
  • Lower cost of disposal of used packaging;
  • Labor cost savings, particularly at discharge;
  • Reduction of waste ingredient;
  • Conducive for road, rail or container shipment;
  • Environmentally friendly - ability to reuse and/or recycle bags.

Applications:

  • Chemicals
  • Fertilizers
  • Fiberglass
  • Grains
  • Mining (Used to hold shotcrete)
  • Construction (Sandgravel, cement, gypsum)
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Pigments
  • Plastics
  • Refractories
  • Rubber Additives
  • Salt
  • Food Products, Agricultural products such as: Seed, Peanuts, Starch, rice...

CLASSIFICATIONS OF FIBCs

Filling and Discharge: The following options are available for filling and discharge of FIBC.

Filling or Top
1) Open top
2) Spout
3) Duffel top (Skirt)
4) Conical Top
5) Flap Closure
6) Custom design as per your requirement

Discharge or Bottom
1) Spout
2) Closed
3) Conical
4) Spout with Iris or Kapishawn closure
5) Custom Design as per your requirement

The size of inlet and outlet can be varied as per customer’s requirement also any other modification required in filling or discharge mechanism is possible. The discharge spout is protected by either star-closure or pajama closure.

ConstructionBags can be constructed using the following techniques.
1) U-Panel construction.
2) Circular/Tubular construction.
3) O-Panel (Round construction)
4) 4-Panel (Four side panel construction)
5) Baffle Bags

Lifting ArrangementBags can be lifted using loops made of heavy-duty webbings or belts made of High denier PP multifilament yarn or PP Monofilament tapes. These belts are strong and undergo stringent quality checks to ensure no accidents occur while handling these bags. These lifting loops can be attached top the bag in various ways. Some of them ar e listed below:
1) Cross Corner Loops.
2) Corner loops.
3) Stevedoring Loops.
4) Tunnel Loops.
5) Single loop Bags.
6) Double Loop Bags.
7) D- Loops.

ELECTROSTATIC PROPERTIES:

  • Type A - no special electrostatic safety features
  • Type B - bags are not capable of generating propagating brush discharges. The wall of this FIBC exhibits a breakdown voltage of 4 kilovolts or less.
  • Type C - conductive FIBC. Constructed from electrically conductive fabric, designed to control electrostatic charges by grounding. A standard fabric used contains conductive threads or tape.
  • Type D - anti-static FIBCs, essentially refers to those bags which have anti-static or static dissipative properties without the requirement of grounding.

Handling:
Jumbo bags can be lifted using a hook or by forks. Common to both is that there must be no sharp edges to damage the loops and the lifting point must be vertically above the loop attachment on the big bag - so that the straps are held nearly vertical. However an angle of up to 45 degrees

measured from vertical to the lifting position is accepted.

Safety:
Safety is specified in two terms:

- SWL (Safe Working Load). SWL is the loading limit.

- SF (Safety Factor). SF shows what the bag has been tested and approved to carry.

UV stabilizer:
Jumbo bags which are stored outdoor, either empty or filled, should always be covered as UV radiation breaks down the plastic (straps, yarn and fabric) and thus become "fragile". The degration naturally depends on the length og intensity of the UV radiation.

Temperature:
Extreme temperatures can weaken the plastic. Normal conditions of -10 to +60 degrees Celsius is not a problem, but if for example it is -20 degrees outside and big bags are transported on an open truck the temperature can easily drop to -60 degrees due to the wind chill factor. Very high temperatures will also weaken the plastic.

General Precautions:

  • SWL must not be exceeded;
  • No sharp edges on the lifting gear;
  • Keep straps vertical during lifting (max 45 degree angle);
  • Always lift in all loops simultaneously;
  • Lift and handle big bags wisely and avoid violent jerk in loops;
  • Never position a filled Big Bag over a person;
  • Big Bags should always be protected against UV radiation;
  • Avoid extreme temperatures <-20 and >+60 degrees Celsius;
  • Be careful when stacking filled bags in multiple layers.

Big Bags are generally considered to be very safe because of the high safety margin. It requires however that above regulations are observed.
